National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) have agreed to step up the tempo of long-standing inter-agency collaboration between them especially in the areas of training for certified skilled manpower in the automotive industry.
This was the outcome of the visit by a NABTEB delegation led by its Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Professor (Mrs.) Ifeoma Mercy Isiugo-Abanihe to the NADDC Headquarters in Abuja where they were warmly received by NADDC Management led by the Director General, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, MFR on Monday June 17, 2019.
In her speech, Prof. Isiugo-Abanihe noted that the cooperation existing between the two agencies had impacted positively on the implementation of the Federal Government Social Investment Programme, N-Power, which is an initiative meant to empower Nigerian youths through skills acquisition.
“It is my earnest desire that the existing synergy between these two agencies of government, which is an indication of collective commitment to the development of our country, will be sustained. With such cooperation, we shall together facilitate the institutionalization of the Framework (NSQF) and deepen inclusivity in the delivery of Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.” She added.
In his remarks, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, MFR, said the critical role of NABTEB in the assessment and certification of trainees cannot be overemphasized.
“NADDC has been in collaboration with NABTEB over decades and this has yielded positive results in many perspectives in terms of training and certification of artisans and craftsmen. We are indeed grateful to NABTEB for the partnership with us to ensure that available skills meet the needs of the Nigerian automotive industry. It is our hope that this collaboration will continue to be nurtured to higher heights.” He stressed.
The NADDC Director General hoped that the visit of NABTEB Registrar would facilitate speedy processes for the issuance of certificates to the graduating trainees in Automotive Mechatronics from all the 67 training centres of NADDC spread across the country.
NADDC is the Sector Skills Council for the Automotive Industry in Nigeria while NABTEB is the General Awarding Body for the National Skills Qualification Framework.
NABTEB assesses and awards National Skills Qualifications (NSQ) to qualified trainees. It is the sole awarding body charged with the responsibility of issuing certificates to qualified Quality Assurance Assessors (QAAs), Internal Quality Assurance Managers (IQAMs) and External Quality Assurance Managers (EQAMs)
