The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on Thursday distanced itself from an online business loan advertisement tagged “Federal Government 2017 Empowerment Loan For Entrepreneur (Nation Wide),” warning entrepreneurs not fall victim of the fraudsters.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alahji Aminu Bisala, issued the warning in Abuja in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Babajide Iletogun.
Mr. Iletogun, who disowned the publicity in its entirety, said “Our attention has been drawn to the unscrupulous attempt by certain individuals who are bent on defrauding the unsuspecting public by inviting application for loan for entrepreneur.”
“Prospective applicants are requested to pay certain amount of money to register by one faceless Jude Indiana with phone number 08039505131 serving as front with firstname.lastname@example.org as their email address,” Iletogun revealed.
He added that “We want to restate that the Ministry does not have any such program and is not in any way connected with the advert.All relevant information about the Ministry are available on the website www.fmiti.gov.ng.”
Iletogun, who advised the general public to disregard the offer, said “security agencies have been alerted to track down the masterminds of this syndicate with a view a to bringing them to book.”
