Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements would fast track actualisation of industrialisation objective of the Federal Government, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, has said.
According to Enelamah, scarce resources have made it difficult for the government alone to build, employ workers and equip industries, therefore,Government is seeking more partnerships with the private sector to drive industrialisation.
The minister, who stated this during a tour of economic zones in Abia State, noted that the era when government singlehandedly built industries was over.
Enelamah said, “We take cooperation and partnership with the public and private sectors as sacrosanct in the realisation of our industrialisation and diversification agenda. It doesn’t matter how well meaning the Federal Government is; the time the government builds industries, staffs them and manages them is gone. We need partnerships to achieve that.
“We need to partner states; we need to partner companies and private individuals.”
He stated that the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan would be driven by industrialisation, noting that this was what informed the plan to build special economic zones across the country.
The minister urged both potential and existing investors to take advantage of the various incentives of government, stating that the plan was to make Nigeria one of the most attractive countries to do business.
