The State University of New York, USA, has honoured the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Abubakar S. Ohere with Doctor of Philosophy in Science (Honoris causa).
Engr. Ohere was honoured in a colourful ceremony in Accra, Ghana, alongside other Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in different ramifications including Engr. (Dr) Ali Abubakar Tatari, Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Housing ; Dr. Lola Akande, Lagos state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Dr. Fati Khadijat, Legislative Aid to the Senate President of Nigeria; Dr. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga, Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Barr. (Dr) Ekuah Abudu, Country Coordinator of Olave Baden Powell Society which funds the World Association of Girls Guide and Scouts; Pastor (Dr) Agatha Goma, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government Administration; and Dr. Abubakar Saddeeq Gwadabe, a Cordian Fellow of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The honorary event was organized by the World Association of Academic Evaluators and Assessors (WAAEA), the body that coordinates the activities of the State University of New York in Africa, in collaboration with the Joint University Standard Council held.
Africa Coordinator of the Association, Prof Lamba Adeyemi said that the association has introduced the honorary award to recognize credible individuals with enviable characters and who have contributed to the sustainable growth and development of their respective communities, states and countries.
Earlier, during the week, Ohere bagged Lead times Africa Magazine Leadership Award on Transparency, Integrity, Selfless Service and Accountability, alongside the Nigerian Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State, Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed.
